excerpts from my book

I just revamped my site sfxfantasy based on the feedback from some friends at a forum.

Changed the look and feel of the site as well as added more information about what is in the my book. Changed the title as well to be more descriptive. My book is now titled
SFX Fantasy : Journey Into A Strange New World and has a more descriptive synopsis.

Here are some more excerpts from my science fiction book.

Horrors for book 2?

I was thinking of putting more focus on the various types of dark beasts in my second book. I mentioned some of these new creatures and scenarios I intend to put into the new book to my husband. He thinks it would become more of a horror story. Especially some of the really gross scenes I had in mind.

Pity though. I was having fun putting down the scariest things that come to mind at night. I'll just scrap the worst, the most disgusting of the lot and keep the rest. Or maybe tone it down a bit.

Probably put more attention in the Jake and Sarah relationship as it develops as well as more characterization on the other key people in the story.

sfx sci-fi fantasy

I readjusted the book layout of sfx fantasy : book 1 to make it the proper paperback size in the proper format. Actually bought a software to help me convert my word document into the necessary layout. Can't wait to finish the promos for this book. Writing is a lot of fun, but everything else is rather boring.

Basically, the first book provides the background of this fantasy world and sets up the relationships between the characters in this world.

The first draft of the second book is almost done. Just a few chapters left and then I can start polishing it up. I just spent this morning typing in a few chapters that came to me last night / early morning, while I was lying in bed, half asleep.

The second book continues from where the first one left off. The premise of the things that happen in the second book are related to stuff mentioned briefly in the first. In the next book, Jake and Sarah will continue to provide the main story line. Though this time around, Jake doesn't have it as easy as he did in the first book. Other characters become more important here.

Writing is a lot more fun than drawing, marketing or worse still, typing in descriptions for a datafeed.

I spent yesterday working on the datafeed. It is far from complete. The most boring part of the process but necessary if I want to market it through affiliates.

trying to launch my book

I'm still working on the datafeed for my affiliate program. Giving 20% commission to any webmaster who is able to sell the book or related merchandise.

Just typing in the products and writing descriptions for every single product is a lot more time consuming that I imagined. This is the most boring part so far. I'd rather work on the second book.

I've got the entire outline for my next book. It writes itself in my mind at night. Funny thing is that only the Jake and Sarah bit and the beasts they encounter flow very easily in my mind, dreams? when I'm like half asleep. the rest of the book and all the other characters just don't seem to want to tell their stories.

I plan on doing one more design based on sfx fantasy book 1 but it is a lot more difficult than I thought. I've already done the designs for 2 scenes. Sarah's flight lesson and Jake's entrapment by the serpent queen. I want to do the dragon's lair, but it is way too difficult. The story I have, the scene that appears in my mind is a very scary one. Somehow, when I finally draw them, the scary edge is gone. It just can't capture the picture I have in my mind.

Maybe I keep putting off the dragon's lair one scene cos I'm basically trying to draw my nightmares in these designs. What do you think?
