still working on Jake and Sarah

Ok, now my book is on Amazon marketplace but I still am not satisfied with it.

I'm going through it once more, looking for the scenes that were told and not shown. (A primary weakness for first timers. One I'm painfully aware of.)

Found some more of these scenes and expanded them to show everything. The result is better than the original. I want this book to be really good so I just hired an editor to go through my work when I'm done. Once everything is just right, then its going into Global distribution. Which means, if all things go as plan, it should hit the stores all over the world in a month or two.

I'm really excited about it. I've already worked a few scenes for another novel that is beginning to tell itself. That yet to be written novel hinges quite a bit on Jake and Sarah's epic novel. I'll take down notes as the scenes appear but postpone putting the book together until the first book has gone global.

Right now, I'm working on the scene with Bob, Duncan and the Bacca’adan. It should be the creepiest scene. These are the worst creatures to face as it is nearly impossible to get a grip on them. They are elusive. You can't get them. They get you.

The problem is I can't seem to get the scene to work. The fear just wouldn't show. Can't seem to get the emotions out for this scene. So many things happen so quickly, so I got to figure a way to show the scene.

Maybe I'll stick to Bob as the POV character.

artificial intelligence anyone?

I've always been very interested in A.I. As a computer science student, the only subject that kept me awake was Artificial Intelligence. That was donkey years ago. Even now, I keep toying with the idea about doing an A.I. program from the fun of it... just to prove that it can be done.

I write the sfxfantasy books to help me stay sane. The first book Sarah's Journey was written when I was burnt out. I had spent most of my waking hours on my internet business, working 7 days a week for an entire year, building new websites, programming like mad. I even did a program to design a site like a magazine, with a different layout and color scheme each week for the new stuff to be featured on it and let the computer take charge of that site completely. It is all about the girly color pink. An experiment to see if random design by the computer would look better than what I painstakingly put together. I've got a terrible color sense. My sites are hideous and most people would tell me so. The only compliments I ever got for the color scheme and design on a site were for that site where I let the computer decide on the color scheme and lay out.

Now that my first book Jake and Sarah Science Fiction Fantasy Epic is out (still need to do the marketing and get that book into Ingram etc, but the basics are complete), I'm itching to do another book. This time, a novel which touches on the subject of A.I. With a different set of characters in another realm.

At the same time, I have already written bits and pieces about the happenings in the warrior's realm after the Jake and Sarah epic ends, with interesting chapters involving the original cast with new characters, some of whom are rather bitchy characters to boot.

In my original plot line, I'd have an part 1 on the A.I. part in a normal world. THe mood there starts out slow with things going wrong and getting so bad everything looks hopeless by the end of part 1. In part 2, I'd show the happenings in the warrior's world in part 2 which by contrast is really fun, light hearted and humorous. Part 3 would have a cross over with Jake stumbling onto the A.I. world and doing something there that has severe consequences in his own world. Won't say much but it is going to end up in an all out war the Part 4 with a huge climax.

Another possibility is to split that into 2 books. Jake and Sarah and the warriors stay put in their world while the characters in the A.I. story have to deal with their problems on their own, making it a Sci-fi book without the fantasy element.

Right now, I write the chapters as they pop up in my mind. I'll see later which path to take. I already have the crossover chapter and the scenario that led up to it, as well as the consequences of his actions. If I do split it up, those chapters have to be scrapped.

I find writing so much more fun than actually promoting the book. Got to figure out how to promote the Jake and Sarah epic before I actually write the AI book.
